A: This pump is for a 4 cylinder turbocharged engine.
Q: How does lift measured with the gauge correspond to timing BTDC on inline pumps on Cummins engines?	9/30/2024
A: The Haynes Repair Manual has some charts that indicate that each pump has a different specs and there is not one answer. Somewhere between 4mm and 6mm of lift on the gauge will give anywhere between 11.5 and 14.5 degrees of static timing BTDC. The most common lifts for 6BT engines will give 11.5 degrees BTDC at 5.5mm and 13.5mm. BTDC at 5.9mm.
Q: What are some upgrades to these pumps on a Cummins 4BT 8v engine?	9/30/2024
A: The Haynes Repair Manual discusses a few upgrades. It mentions are stiffer governor spring and a special boost pin. The stiffer governor spring will give a higher max RPM. The special boost pin will give more fuel under turbo boost. The Haynes manual also talks about screwing the star wheel in the top of the pump to get more fuel. Lastly, it discusses turning the fuel enrichment screw in a little, and I would say that you might want to start with that.
